Meet Aala Marra, our WNDR WMN OF THE WEEK!
Aala Marra, a Sudan native currently residing in Brooklyn, NY, is an author, impact entrepreneur, & media personality, best known for her success story in healing herself from an autoimmune illness. Aala graduated from Yale University in 2014 with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, and B.A. in Political Science. There was so much success and light in this vibrant souls life until in 2015, Aala suddenly fell fatally ill to a host of symptoms that left her bedridden. Struck with rapid hair loss, eczema and a host of other ailments, Aala found herself within one of the darkest moments in her life, which she’d shine light on years later. Aala decided to take matters into her own hands and almost 2 years later was able to emerge completely disease-free in a matter of weeks. In 2017, she established her rapidly growing platform on Instagram, where she shared the cleanse, which included increasing her water intake and eliminating inflammatory foods from her diet, that saved her life.
So far, Aala has published two best-selling e-books: a cookbook with her healing recipes, called “Eating My Way to a Cure” as well as the guide to her healing journey titled “I Am the Cure; and So Are You”. Since sharing her story publicly, hundreds of people have used her method to heal their own conditions—like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Urticaria, Insomnia, & Depression, to name a few. She launched her digital platform "AalaCare" which teaches people how to transition into a healthier lifestyle. Aala’s platform “AalaCare“ is not your average wellness guide, but intended to encourage holistic lifestyles amongst people of color and more specifically, black WMN. Beyond health, Aala is heavily focused on impact entrepreneurship--on using media & business as a means to reinvest in our communities & serve people by creating real, quantifiable change. A WNDR WMN to the core!
